After a two year qualification period and a succesful 2024 event, the TCS Sydney Marathon was elevated to the ranks of the Abbott Marathon Majors for 2025. It is the first race from the Southern Hemisphere to join the world's biggest marathon club which also includes Tokyo, London, Boston, Berlin, Chicago and New York City.
Sydney is one of the world's great cities. Its marathon is run on a wonderfully scenic course taking in some of the city's spectacular and historic landmarks including the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. It was already a popular race but with its elevation to the Marathon Majors club we expect demand to reach a whole new level in 2025.
With a target field of 35,000 runners in 2025 general entry is likely to be by lottery but as a travel partner to the event, we have a limited number of guaranteed entries for the 2025 race, which are available with one of our hotel-based travel packages.
The Marathon is the centrepiece of an entire running festival. This festival features over 40,000 participants from more than 100 countries taking on four different distances, making it the largest event of its kind in Australia.
The Marathon has a seven hour cut off from the gun.

THURSDAY 28 AUGUST
Welcome to Sydney. Make your way from the airport to the hotel and check in. Usually, hotel rooms are ready after 3:00pm, if you arrive earlier, you can leave your luggage at the hotel.
Between 10:00-3:00pm a representative will be waiting in the lobby to greet you and answer any questions you might have.
FRIDAY 29 AUGUST
This morning, after breakfast, you are welcome to join us for a light shake-out run along the harbour. Our representative will also escort you to the Sydney Running Show. Pick up your bib and explore the stalls before making your own way back to the hotel at your leisure.
In the late afternoon join our Sydney Marathon Harbour Cruise with other runners from our group as well as other international runners. For two hours you will enjoy the beauty of the harbour as you look back onto the Opera House and Sydney skyline. The cruise will include substantial canapes and a drink on arrival.
SATURDAY 30 AUGUST
This morning after breakfast you are welcome to join us for another light shake-out run along the harbour. This will be at an easy pace and another chance to loosen your legs. It will be no longer than 5km (approx. 3 miles).
Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Consider booking the BridgeClimb, or buy a hop on hop off bus tour pass to experience this wonderful city.
SUNDAY 31 AUGUST
Race day is here! After an early breakfast, make your way to the start line. Our representatives will be in the hotel lobby to provide guidance.
Any spectators can join us at a few key parts of the course to cheer on your runners.
In the evening, join us in the bar of the Grace Hotel for a post-marathon celebratino drink
MONDAY 1 SEPTEMBER
This is a day at leisure to relax and enjoy a little bit more of Sydney.
TUESDAY 2 SEPTEMBER
Unless you have booked any extra nights at the hotel, check out of the hotel and make your own way back to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
